What is LifeSTEP?
LifeSTEP stands for Lifestyle Evangelism Program. LifeSTEP is a mentorship program for ministry (not just with AIM) where a young person can grow in their Christian walk through Bible studies, helping hands-on in AIM, and learning “tent-making” skills to help them in their future ministry.
Who can intern?
Interns should be at least 16 years old for short-term (i.e. 2 weeks) and have graduated from high school for long-tem (semester - two year) internships. More importantly, interns must have a commitment to Jesus Christ, be growing in the Word, and have a heart for ministry. Interns need to be teachable, willing to do what is asked of them, and willing to be held accountable. They must not complain about the situations presented to them. Before deciding whether or not you want to be an intern, read AIM’s mission, vision, and belief statements to make sure that they cause the passion in your heart to rise. Be sure you are ready to learn, be challenged, and be held accountable.
How long is the internship?
A young person interested in interning with ACTION Impact Missions can commit for any length of time. However, we have a 6 month, one-year, two-year and full-time program.
What roles and responsibilities do interns have?
Interns are responsible for working in the AIM office and completing tasks with excellence. Such tasks may include filing, preparing mailings, data entry, creating Bible studies and handouts, and making phone calls. Before, during, and after Mission Trips there is much more work to be done. Interns are given leadership and a great deal of responsibility on Mission Trips. Interns have opportunities to work with local AIM Teams, and grow in long-term discipleship skills. Other responsibilities include keeping the rooms and bathroom cleaned, helping out with household chores, being a servant in the church, and generally helping out when asked.
Do I have to pay to be an intern?
Yes. Although AIM’s desire is to make the internship program as available as possible, there are certain costs that must be covered, such as food, water, etc. Monthly tuition for an intern is $500, and can be raised as missionary support. Toiletries and other basic personal needs are not included in tuition.
What do I need to do to become an intern?
When looking to become an intern, pray. Talk to AIM as well as your parents about the possibility. You will need to go through an application process including turning in an application with references and being interviewed. You will need to set up goals and make a commitment to AIM for the time that has been decided upon. This commitment states that you are placing yourself under the mentorship of AIM and are willing to do what is asked of you and be held accountable.
